Your Australian Consumer Law rights come first

Products and services come with automatic consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded by this policy, a manufacturer warranty or any other store term. Products must meet applicable guarantees such as acceptable quality, fitness for a disclosed purpose and matching their description. Services must be supplied with due care and skill, be fit for an agreed purpose and be completed within the agreed time or, if no time was agreed, a reasonable time.

These rights may continue after a voluntary warranty has ended. The remedy depends on the nature of the problem and may include repair, replacement, refund, service rectification, cancellation or compensation where the Australian Consumer Law provides it. See the ACCC consumer-guarantees guidance.

2-year product warranty

Unless a different express warranty period is clearly stated for a particular product in its quotation, order confirmation or invoice, AutomationsSmart warrants that every product it supplies will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for two years.

The two-year period starts on the date Refurbix Pty Ltd receives full payment for the relevant product, as shown in our payment records, paid invoice or payment receipt. If a covered defect appears during that period, we will assess the claim and, subject to this policy, repair or replace the affected product or part. Australian Consumer Law rights may provide a different remedy or continue beyond this voluntary period.

You may contact AutomationsSmart first for assistance. We will not require you to deal only with a manufacturer where Refurbix Pty Ltd has a responsibility under the Australian Consumer Law.

5-year installation-workmanship warranty

Where AutomationsSmart performs an installation, Refurbix Pty Ltd warrants the installation workmanship for five years. The five-year period starts on the date Refurbix Pty Ltd receives full payment for the relevant installation service, as shown in our payment records, paid invoice or payment receipt.

If a defect in our installation workmanship appears during that period, contact us so we can assess and rectify the affected workmanship, subject to this policy and the Australian Consumer Law. This workmanship warranty covers the installation work performed by AutomationsSmart; it does not extend the separate two-year product warranty.

Ongoing lifetime technical support

For this policy, lifetime support means reasonable remote technical support for the original purchaser for as long as they own the product and Refurbix Pty Ltd continues to trade. It can include general setup guidance, troubleshooting and help identifying the appropriate next step for an issue involving a product or installation purchased from us.

Lifetime support does not extend the two-year product warranty or five-year workmanship warranty and does not automatically include free replacement parts, repairs, travel or on-site work. We may offer additional assistance case by case and will explain any proposed charge before work is approved. Please have your invoice, purchase order, order reference or other reasonable proof of purchase available.

How to request support or make a claim

Email sales@automationssmart.com, call 03 4332 5130, or use the support form. Please include:

  • Your name and invoice, purchase order, order or installation reference
  • The product model and whether Automations Smart installed it
  • What happened, when it began and any warning light or message
  • Clear photos or a short video where useful

An invoice or purchase order is the quickest proof of purchase, but another reasonable record that identifies the transaction may also be accepted. Do not send lock PINs, passwords, fingerprints, mechanical-key details or complete payment-card information.

Assessment, remedy and claim costs

We may request reasonable proof of purchase and information needed to identify and assess the issue. For an installed or difficult-to-remove product, contact us before removing or returning it so a safe assessment can be arranged.

For a claim made solely under this voluntary warranty, the customer is responsible for reasonable travel, freight, removal and reinstallation costs, except to the extent Refurbix Pty Ltd is required by the Australian Consumer Law to bear or reimburse those costs. Any proposed customer-paid inspection, collection or other claim cost will be disclosed before it is incurred.

Where a fault is confirmed and the Australian Consumer Law applies, Refurbix Pty Ltd will bear or reimburse costs as required by law, including reasonable return or transport costs and, where applicable, collection of goods that are large, heavy, hard to remove or difficult to transport. Keep receipts for any cost you believe should be reimbursed and obtain approval before arranging removal or transport where reasonably possible.

The available resolution depends on the product or service, the cause and seriousness of the issue, the applicable voluntary warranty and your Australian Consumer Law rights. A statutory remedy may include repair, replacement, refund, service rectification, cancellation or compensation where the law provides it.

Causes outside the voluntary warranty

The voluntary product and workmanship warranties do not cover a problem to the extent it was caused by misuse, accident, unauthorised alteration, use contrary to supplied instructions, incompatible third-party equipment, third-party installation or repair, unsuitable power or batteries, or environmental exposure outside the product's stated specifications.

This causal limitation does not apply to an unrelated product or workmanship failure and does not remove any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

Product documents and the mandatory consumer notice

This website page is a customer guide and should be read with the warranty statement and any manufacturer material supplied for the relevant product or installation. A different product warranty period applies only where it is clearly stated in the quotation, order confirmation or invoice.

The warranty benefits described here are additional to other rights and remedies available under law. Warranty information supplied with a product or combined product-and-installation service must also include the prescribed Australian Consumer Law notice. See the ACCC warranty guidance.
