FREE PROJECT CHECK

Door Compatibility

Tell us what you need and where you are. For smart locks, we’ll review five required door photos, plus a security-door clearance photo if applicable, and your actual measurements before confirming the model, installation and final price.

5 REQUIRED PHOTOS + 1 IF APPLICABLE

Photograph your door and frame in a few minutes

Use daylight where possible, hold your phone steady and keep the whole area described below in frame.

6 simple stepsSwipe or use your arrow keys to review each photo

Example showing how to photograph the full outside of an entrance door

Outside of the door

Stand back and capture the complete door, frame, current handle and lock in one clear photo.

Example showing how to photograph the full inside of an entrance door

Inside of the door

Capture the complete inside face, including every handle, thumb-turn, lock and the surrounding frame.

Example showing the door edge, latch and a door-thickness measurement

Door edge + thickness

Open the door and show the latch or mortise faceplate. Place a tape measure across the edge so the full door thickness and scale are readable.

Record the actual reading in millimetres rather than estimating it.

MEASURE THE LOCK STILE

Current lock position + lock stile

On the side with the least room, hold a tape horizontally across the lock area from the opening edge to the nearest glass panel, moulding or obstruction. Keep the current hardware and measurement readable.

Record the narrowest available width in millimetres. If the two sides differ, photograph the narrower side.

Example showing the current strike plate in the door frame where the latch or bolt enters

Door frame + strike plate

With the door open, take a straight-on photo of the frame where the latch or bolt enters. Show the complete current strike plate, its screws and the surrounding frame. If there is more than one plate, include them all.

Example showing how to measure clearance between an entrance door and a security door

Security-door clearance (if applicable)

If you have a security or screen door, photograph a tape measure across the smallest gap where the new lock and outer door could meet.

Record the actual gap in millimetres. If there is no second door, tell us that instead.

Protect your privacy before uploading

Keep people, house numbers, keys, access cards, PINs and entry codes out of every photo. We only need to see the door, frame, hardware and measuring tape. Submitted photos are for compatibility and quoting only; we will not use them in marketing without separate permission.
